WHAT IS IT?

GREEN CAMPUS 2008-2009 UM CAMPAIGN:

Student Fee to establish a Revolving Energy Loan Fund.  The RELF will support sustainable energy and conservation projects.  Green Campus supports students working to pass the fee with outreach and organizing training, technical assistance regarding fund and clean energy development and a small budget to support outreach events and activities.

Find out more about the project at its mascot at www.umrelf.info

GREEN CAMPUS 2007-2008 INTERNSHIP/CAMPAIGN:

Northwest SEED Green Campus provided technical assistance to a student developing a solar design and installation guide for on campus decision makers.  This guide was developed for a proposed solar installation on a LEED building.  The project was not funded, however, the guide is available as an information source for future projects.

The University of Montana in Missoula enjoys broad, administrative and community-based support for its sustainability-minded programs.  The University offers a wide range of opportunities for involvement, intended to facilitate a deeper understanding of sustainability as well as provide for the meaningful and practical application of sustainable values.  A few of UM’s current programs include a successful Farm To College program, an established Environmental Studies graduate and undergraduate program, a new Energy Technology program through the associated UM College of Technology campus, an official commitment to the Tallories Declaration, and a dedicated and active Sustainable Campus Committee

During 2007, UM began active participation in the Northwest Green Campus internship program, with an on-campus intern conducting a renewable energy feasibility study for the construction of a LEED certified campus coffee house and restaurant.  Northwest Green Campus is continuing to support the efforts of UM students working to make these projects a reality by passing a sustainability fee to support a Revolving Energy Loan Fund.
